Things to Do Near McGill Ridge Apartments in Kamloops This Spring

As we like to say at McGill Ridge, our Kamloops apartment community, is “5-Minutes to Everywhere”. Located near TRU in the city’s southwest business district, our tenants enjoy easy access to the rest of Kamloops and beyond. In spring, the city is alive with things to do, both indoors and outdoors. From local outdoor adventures to comedy, art, music and food (and everything in between), you should have no trouble filling your weekend with fun.

Following are just a handful of notable events and attractions.

Kamloops Heritage Railway Park Grand Opening
with the Kamloops Vintage Car Club

Date: May 6, 2023.
Cost: $10 for adults. $5 for children aged 4-15. Free for toddlers.
Location: 40 Mt Paul Way, Kamloops.

The Kamloops Heritage Railway park kicks off the 2023 season in partnership with the Vintage Car Club. See vintage muscle cars, enjoy Biggz Bar-B-Que and Lakeside Mini Donuts and check out steam locomotive 2141 and other historical rail cars.

Mountain Bike Mecca at Kamloops Museum and Archives

Date: February 24-June 10, 2023.
Cost: Admission by donation (suggested donations are $3 per adult, $1 per child).

KMA hosts “Mountain Bike Mecca” – a temporary exhibit that aims to crowdsource a historical record of mountain biking in Kamloops. The public is encouraged to take part and share their personal stories of mountain biking in the city.

West Coast Amusements at Aberdeen Mall

Date: April 28 – Sunday May 7.
Cost: Single coupon – $1.25 single coupon. 20 coupons for $25. 40 coupons for $45.

West Coast Amusements is the largest travelling midway operation in Western Canada. Started by Irvin R. “Bingo” Hauser in 1962, who got his start in the carnival game back in 1947. The Hauser family still runs West Coast Amusements.

DIY Comedy Tour at Effie Art Collective

The Effie Art Collective hosts the DIY Comedy Tour starring comedians Scott Porteous, Frank Russo and Mike Payne.

2023 Memorial Cup Hockey

Date: May 26-June 4.

The Memorial Cup is the premier Canadian junior ice hockey tournament. Watch exciting hockey from up and coming players and enjoy off-ice events like music, a speaker series and a beer garden.

Rocky Mountain High – Celebrating the Music of John Denver

Date: May 28.

John Denver tragically died 25 years ago. A guitarist, singer and actor, his music continues to inspire musicians the world over. The show features an all-star lineup of some of Canada’s best musicians performing true to his style.
