Why rent an apartment at Kamloops’ McGill Ridge?

McGill Ridge is located directly opposite the main entrance to Thompson Rivers University and in the heart of the Southwest Business District. Our Kamloops apartment rentals are ideally designed for TRU students, as well as people working at TRU, in the southwest business district, Sahali or Royal Inland Hospital. Living at McGill Ridge, you’ll enjoy easy access to transit and main thoroughfares, as well as a variety of neighbourhood amenities including restaurants, coffee shops, groceries, shopping, banking, medical and dental offices, parks and recreation and many other services.

What’s included in the rent?

Our Kamloops apartment rentals include in-suite laundry, personal storage locker, hot water, and secure interior bike storage. Residents also have free access to shared common areas including a fitness centre, outdoor barbecue pits and landscaped seating areas.

How do I pay my rent?

At McGill Ridge, rent is due on or before the 1st day of each month. Rent can be paid by pre-authorised payment (PAD) Rent which is automatically process by your bank on the 1st of each month.

Is there a place to keep my bike?

At McGill Ridge we offer outdoor bike racks for temporary storage and a dedicated indoor climate-controlled bike storage area, accessible through our security FOB system.

How many people can live in each apartment?

Studios and 1 bedroom apartments are limited to one person. 1 bedroom + study and 2 bedroom apartments may have up to two people. Both people living in an apartment will be required to sign the Tenancy Agreement, which is joint and several, meaning that both tenants are responsible for the rent of the apartment, not just their bedroom.

How do I apply to rent an apartment at McGill Ridge?

To rent an apartment at McGill Ridge, first submit an availability request form. When an apartment becomes available, we’ll arrange a viewing with you. If you’re interested in renting the apartment, we’ll send you a link to our online apartment rental application. If approved, we will ask you (and any co-renters) to sign our tenancy agreement. After that, all you need to do is move into your new home!

What is a rental agreement?

The Residential Tenancy Act refers to a landlord and resident relationship under a rental agreement (also known as a “Tenancy Agreement”). The apartment rental agreement must be in writing and is a legally binding contract between the apartment rental landlord and tenant. The Tenancy Agreement consists of terms that will detail the responsibilities of both parties and includes standard terms in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act of British Columbia.

Do I need to pay a Security Deposit?

Yes, a security deposit is required to secure the apartment for you. The amount of the security deposit is half of one month’s rent and is collected in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act of British Columbia.

Do you provide insurance?

The landlord is not responsible for any damage or loss that occurs to the tenant’s personal property regardless of the cause of the damage or loss. We recommend that all tenants obtain renters insurance which usually covers theft, fire and flooding of your apartment, and will protect your possessions in the case of an emergency.
