If you’re a Thompson Rivers University Student or staff member that wants to live as close to the campus as possible, there are a number of options for TRU off campus housing in Kamloops, though many aren’t ideal. Traditionally, TRU students and staff have had to take what they can get, renting an older, outdated apartment near campus, a spare room in someone’s home, or an apartment advertised as being “near TRU”, which really aren’t that close at all.

Not only will you live seconds from school, you’ll be within walking distance (or short drive) to restaurants, shopping, services, pubs, nightlife and nature. Few TRU apartment rentals are in a neighbourhood that offers so many amenities.
Value privacy
Many students who live in TRU off campus housing sacrifice privacy for affordability. You may have to share a room in an apartment or live in a home with 4 or 5 other students. It won’t take long before you miss your own space – or at least a space that isn’t a constant hum of activity and comings and goings. If, on the other hand, you share a 2 bedroom apartment at McGill Ridge, or elect to rent a studio suite, you’ll have privacy at a price not much above that of other shared accommodations.
Value security and peace of mind
If you’ve ever had a bike, laptop, money or other things go “missing” in shared accommodations, you’re not alone, and it’s often not your roommates you need to worry about.
