15 Sep How Safe Are Kamloops Apartment Rentals During COVID-19?
If you are currently renting a Kamloops apartment or are considering doing so, you may have questions about the safety of apartment units and apartment building common areas during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The managers of McGill Ridge Apartments in Kamloops, have implemented sanitation protocols that follow public health and other government recommendations. Apartment common areas are cleaned daily and high-touch surface (door handles, elevator buttons, access panel buttons and mailboxes) are sanitized twice daily.
While we follow and implement COVID-19 spread prevention recommendations to keep you safe, optimal prevention depends on the vigilance of tenants and their visitors.
If you follow BC Centre for Disease Control recommendations, you can dramatically reduce the risk of contracting or spreading the virus. Prevention is most effective if ALL TENANTS do their part. While we can’t actively “police” our tenants, if you’re concerned that the behaviour of a tenant (or their guests) while in our building puts you and others at risk, please contact us. Information you provide will be kept confidential.
While we can’t speak to the safety of all Kamloops apartment rentals, any apartment dweller can benefit from following basic spread prevention guidelines.
How is COVID-19 Spread?

As you likely know by now, coronavirus that causes COVID-19 disease is most often spread by human-to-human droplet contact. According to the BC Centre for Disease Control:
“The coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is spread by liquid droplets when a person coughs, sneezes or sometimes talks or sings. If you are in close contact with an infected person, the virus can enter the body if droplets get into the eyes, nose or throat.”
The coronavirus is also spread by touch:
“If droplets are left on objects and surfaces after an infected person sneezes, coughs on, or touches them, other people may become infected by touching these objects or surfaces, and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. That’s why we recommend you cough or sneeze into your arm and wash your hands regularly.” – “How it Spreads”, BC Centre for Disease Control.
While there is speculation about airborne transmission known as “aerosolization” (where microscopic particles stay in the air for a period of time), BC Centre for Disease Control states that there is “no convincing scientific evidence to support this. An exception is aerosols produced by aerosol-generating medical procedures.”
