Exercise Near Your Kamloops Apartment During COVID-19: 7 Parks Within Walking Distance

If you’re looking for ways to exercise near your Kamloops apartment during COVID-19, thankfully there are many community parks for walking, running and biking. If you live at McGill Ridge Apartments you can be at one of several nearby parks within minutes.

How is McGill Ridge Helping Protect Tenants During COVID-19?

Early on, McGill Ridge Apartments closed the common fitness room for the protection of our tenants and staff. As with other fitness and recreation facilities in the community, it will remain closed until further notice.

So how can you work out without the McGill Ridge gym or other facilities open? Fortunately, there is an abundance of home workout videos on social media platforms such as YouTube, that provide free workout ideas and tips for a variety of fitness levels. Look for workouts that require minimal or no equipment (i.e. exercises that rely only on your body weight) for you to have a great workout.

We have implemented a daily disinfection regimen, including twice-daily sanitizing of all common area door handles, elevator pads, access panel buttons, and mailboxes.

While these measures will help reduce the spread of COVID-19, prevention is only as good as each tenants’ actions during this time. All tenants should follow BC’s COVID-19 handwashing and household sanitizing recommendations, and must abide by provincial and federal physical distancing orders, including:

  • Staying at home except for essential errands
  • Going to the grocery store once per week
  • Sending one member of the household for errands
  • Exercising at home or staying two metres apart from others when outside the home
  • Avoiding public places like malls
  • Not allowing visitors to come into your home

For our tenants who want to stay fit or just stretch their legs and get some air and sunshine, there are several parks near our Kamloops apartments to walk or run. Playgrounds and play structures are currently closed at all BC parks.

When at a park, it’s important to follow social distancing rules:

  • Only walk or exercise with members of your own household
