2021 Christmas & Holiday Events Near Our Kamloops Apartments

If you’re a tenant at McGill Ridge Apartments in Kamloops, you’re minutes away from Christmas and holiday events for the entire family. Christmas has been vastly different since the pandemic. Thankfully, things are slowly getting back to normal, and you can safely get out there and enjoy some Yule Tide fun. Below is a list of holiday activities that will get you in the spirit

The 41st Annual Santa Parade

A Kamloops tradition for forty-one years, the parade returns after taking 2020 off due to the pandemic. The event, hosted by the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, includes floats, and of course St. Nick riding his sleigh. This year’s theme is “Luminous Loops”. Participants have been asked to be creative with lighting, so it’s sure to be a festive evening.

When: 4:30pm, Sunday, November 28, 2021
Where: The parade starts at 2nd Avenue and St. Paul Street (map, then makes its way along 2nd Avenue to Victoria street, ending at 6th Avenue

24th Annual Wildlights

Wildlights at BC Wildlife Park Kamloops returns after being cancelled last year. The BC Wildlife Park team has set up over 1 million lights to dazzle the eyes and spirit. You’ll see incredibly creative light displays featuring holiday themes, characters, animals, and much more. Wildlights is only a 20-minute drive from our Kamloops apartments. Proceeds benefit the nearly 200 permanent residents of the park, Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Centre patients, and the burrowing owl breeding program.

When: 4pm-9pm, December 10/21 to January 2/22. The lights are turned on at 5pm

Storybook Village

Storybook Village brings the holidays to life, transforming downtown Kamloops into an immersive Christmas experience. Participating businesses adorn their storefront windows with lights, displays, and scenes from favourite stories such as “A Christmas Carol”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “The Nutcracker”, “Frosty the Snowman” and other holiday tales. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite window display.

When: November 28, 2021 to January 6, 2022

Chelsea Hotel: The Songs of Leonard Cohen

A powerful cabaret of Cohen’s music and theatre tell the story of a writer who checks into the Chelsea Hotel to find inspiration for his next song. He wades through past relationships and reluctantly comes face to face with the love of the present. Cohen’s music takes center stage with six performers on seventeen different instruments paying tribute the Canadian cultural icon.

When: December 2-11, 2021 with evening performances at 7:30pm, a Saturday matinee at 2pm, and Wednesday matinee at 11am
Where: Sagebrush Theatre, 1300 9th Avenue. Seating at 50% capacity for your safety

Christmas with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra

Join the KSO for its annual Christmas concert with guest soprano Rachel Casponi. Features music from Handel, Vaughan Williams, Villa-Lobos, and Praetorius.

When: Saturday, December 11 at 2pm and 7:30pm

Woodward Christmas Tree Farm

For over 30 years, the Woodward Christmas Tree Farm has been part of Kamloops tradition. Pick a tree from the Christmas Tree patch, on weekends enjoy wagon rides, mulled wine, and hot apple cider. The winery and cidery are open for shopping and tastings, and the Rotary Club will be serving barbecued food to warm you up.

When: Now until December 19. Monday-Friday: 10am-4pm. Saturday and Sunday: 9am-4pm (you must book a date and time in advance)

Sun Peaks Holiday Kick-Off

While not in town, Sun Peaks is only a 50-minute drive from our Kamloops apartment community and well worth the trip the annual Holiday Kick-Off. Visit an artisan market, get photos with Santa, enjoy a scavenger hunt, and listen to a performance by the Lindsay May Trio and watch the Fire Dance performance by Kinshira Entertainment. Other activities include a free hot chocolate station, free gingerbread cookies, public skating and tobogganing.

When: December 11/21 from 1pm to 4pm
